Since June 2007 Israel has imposed a blockade on the Gaza strip. Israel controls the borders of Gaza and only allows limited amounts of aid and other vital supplies through.
The 1.5 million people of Gaza are deprived of basic necessities such as concrete to rebuild areas bombed by Israel and are living with rolling electricity blackouts and minimal produce to buy.
Chris Davies is a member of the European Parliament delegation to Palestine and is a campaigner to end the collective punishment of the Palestinians trapped in Gaza.
